Vital Support

Help with setup, data imports, notifications, location, and sharing.

Getting started

Vital reads Apple Health records and shows personal baselines, trends, potential outliers, and possible correlations on your iPhone or Mac. No account is required.

  1. Choose Continue on the first screen.
  2. Select the Health data types you want Vital to read.
  3. After import, explore Today, Trends, Analysis, and Baseline.

Choose Try Demo Data to explore the app without using your own records.

Native Mac app

Download the ZIP from the official site, unzip it, and move Vital to your Applications folder. It supports Apple silicon and Intel Macs on macOS 14 or later.

The app is signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple. It does not access HealthKit directly; it analyzes only the Apple Health ZIP or export.xml you select.

Use the Demo Data command to explore the app before importing a file.

Apple Health access

Change data types

In Vital, open Privacy and choose Review Health Access. To change a choice you previously denied, open Settings → Apps → Vital → Health on your iPhone.

Automatic updates

When Automatic Health Updates is on, Vital refreshes when the app opens and when iOS reports changes. Background timing is controlled by iOS and is not guaranteed.

If data does not appear

  • Confirm Vital has read access in Health settings.
  • Choose Update Now in Vital.
  • Confirm the record exists in the Health app.

Apple Health exports

Vital can import a ZIP exported from Health or the export.xml inside it. You do not need to unzip the file before selecting it from the welcome or Privacy screen.

Parsing and aggregation happen locally. The file and its health records are not uploaded to FTZ.

Large exports can take time. Keep Vital in the foreground until the import completes.

Notifications, Live Activities, and places

Daily reminders are scheduled on your device at the time you choose. Change alerts and Live Activities are optional. Health information may appear on the Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, or Apple Watch when enabled.

Add Home or Work by searching an address or place, tapping the map, or using your current location. Your iPhone detects entry to or exit from a 200-meter region. Vital does not store routes or location history.

Save and share images

Use Share from Today, Analysis, or Baseline to create a Stories image, a wide X image, or a compact transparent card. Choose Save Image to add it to Photos, or choose Instagram, X, or another destination from the system share sheet.

The image is generated on your iPhone and stays local until you choose a destination.
